National News

NCPCR launches training module for Child Welfare Committees

  • National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, NCPCR introduced the Training Modules for the Child Welfare Committees, CWCs and Protocols for Restoration and Repatriation of Children in New Delhi on the celebration of World Children’s Day on 20th Nov 2022.
  • GHAR – GO Home and Re-Unite (online Portal for Restoration and Repatriation of Child) was also introduced. The main aim of the celebration is to provide training to members and officials of the child welfare committees and District’s Child Protection Units for the proper implementation of Juvenile Justice Rules in the country.

Keel laid the two PCV at Goa Shipyard

  • In line with the country’s Make in India commitment for sourcing equipments and systems from indigenous firms including MSMEs, Indian Cost Guard laid the keel for two Coast Guard Pollution Control Vessels, GSL Yard 1267 & 1268, on 21st November 2022 at the Goa Shipyard.
  • The two Pollution Control Vessels are indigenously designed and developed by the Goa Shipyard, to be delivered by February 2025 and August 2025 respectively.

International news

India will take the lead in the Global Partnership for Artificial Intelligence (AI).

  • Union Minister of State for Electronics, Information Technology, Shri. Rajiv Chandrasekhar, India has symbolically taken over the leadership of the Global Partnership on AI (GPAI) from France.
  • Also in this organization is an assembly consists of 25 member including the United States, United Kingdom, European Union, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Republic of Korea and Singapore. India became a member of this group in 2020.

Network Readiness Index 2022 report

  • India has improved its position by six slots and is now placed at 61st rank as per the Network Readiness Index 2022 (NRI 2022) report released recently.
  • These NRI Report maps the network-based readiness landscape of 131 economies based on their performances in four different pillars: Technology, People, Governance, and Impact covering a total of 58 variables. The report has been prepared by the Portulans Institute, nonpartisan research and educational institute based in Washington DC.

8-member management committee appointed to manage Datta temple in Karnataka

  • Hindus and Muslims have filed a case in the Karnataka High Court regarding the ownership of the Dutta temple located on the Bababudangiri hill in the Chandrathirikona hill of Chikkamagaluru district.
  • The judge who heard the case ruled that the Karnataka government should take the lead and run the Datta temple and ordered the Karnataka government to appoint an administrative committee for the same. In this group of 8 members, 7 are Hindus and one is Muslim.

New Election Commissioner was Appointed

  • Arun Goyal retired IAS officer will take over as the next Chief Election Commissioner after Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar retires in February 2025.
  • A 1985 Punjab batch IAS officer, he will serve on the Election Commission Committee along with Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar and Election Commissioner Anup Chandra Pandey.

Venkat Ramana Ganapathy has been appointed as the Trustee of Kasi Vishwanath Temple

  • The Khasi-Tamil Sangam program will be held for a month till December 17, 2022 to revive the ancient relationship between Khasi and Tamil Nadu and its cultural glory.
  • In this case, the Uttar Pradesh government has appointed K. Venkat Ramana Ganapathy, a native of Chennai, is appointed as the trustee of Kashi Vishwanath Temple and this is the first time that a person from Tamil Nadu is a member of the board of trustees of Kashi Vishwanath Temple.

International Committee for Weight and Measures (CIPM) member was elected

  • Venu Gopal Achanta, Director, CSIR-National Physical Laboratory (CSIR-NPL), New Delhi, has been elected as a member of the prestigious International Committee for Weights and Measures (CIPM). And he is the 7th Indian to be in the prestigious international committee.
  • CIPM is a supreme international committee, which is responsible for Development and Implementation of Weight and Measures globally. Prof. Venu Gopal Achanta is among 18 members worldwide from different countries.

ISRO plans to launch PSLV-C54 Rocket

  • The Indian Space Research Organization will launch PSLV-C54/ EOS-06 mission with Oceansat-3 and eight nano satellites, including one from Bhutan, on board from Sriharikota spaceport on November 26,2022.
  • “EOS-06 has (Oceansat-3) plus eight nano satellites (BhutanSat, ‘Anand’ from Pixxel, Thybolt two numbers from Dhruva Space, and Astrocast – four numbers from Spaceflight USA).

Cleanliness Award for Schools

  • Central Government’s ‘Cleanliness Vidyalaya Puraskar’ awards for schools are evaluated and awarded under 6 categories namely drinking water facility, toilets, hand washing facility with soap, operation and maintenance, behavior change and capacity, Corona (preparedness and response).
  • Out of these 39 best performing schools have been selected and given cleanliness award for the academic year 2021-22, in which 28 government and government aided schools and 11 private schools have been selected for the award.

International Film Festival of India 2022

  • The 53rd edition of the nine-day festival was inaugurated by Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur and the event to be held from 20 – 28 November 2022 at Panaji,Goa.
  • In that Festival famous Telugu actor chiranjeevi Receives Indian Film Personality of the Year award.

Men’s Tennis Championship

  • The top-8 men’s players in the world will participate in ‘A.T.P. The men’s tennis championship Finals, began on November 13 in Turin, Italy.
  • In that series final match was between Novak Djokovic and Casper Ruud, Djokovic won the men’s tennis championship trophy by defeating Casper Ruud in the final.

Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS)

  • Sports Ministry has approved Olympic Gold Medallist Neeraj Chopra’s proposal to train in United Kingdom under Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS).
  • The funding will cover the player and their support staff’s flight, accommodation, local travel, and food costs among other expenditures. TOPS will also provide each athlete an out-of-pocket allowance of 50 dollar per day for any other expense.

World Hello Day

  • World Hello Day is observed on November 21st, to recognize the role communication plays for preserving peace.
  • The day also encourages world leaders to use communication rather than force to settle conflicts.

World Fisheries Day

  • World Fisheries and Fishermen’s Day is observed every year on November 21 all over the world.
  • In India Department of Fisheries, Union Fisheries, Ministry of Animal Husbandry and Dairying and National Fisheries Development Board are jointly celebrating ‘World Fisheries Day’ on 21 November 2022 at Swami Vivekananda Arena, Daman.
  • During this event, appreciation and award will be given to the states/districts and various organizations that have performed well in fisheries related activities during the last three years from 2019-20 to 2021-22.
