US Secretary of State Anthony Blingen called on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, S. Jaisankar and Ajit Doval.

The Union Cabinet has approved an amendment to the Insurance and Credit Union (DICGC) Act.

  • The Union Cabinet has approved an amendment to the Deposit Insurance and Credit Union (DICGC) Act to provide insurance of up to Rs. 5 lakhs for public deposits in banks.
  • Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced in the Union Budget that the sum insured for deposits would be increased from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.

ORBITUARY

Indian badminton star Nandu Nadekar (88) has passed away.

  • Born in 1933 in Sangli, Maharashtra, Nadekar was initially a tennis player. After 1952, his path turned to badminton.
  • Nadekar, who has won more than a hundred titles in the individual, doubles and mixed doubles categories nationally and internationally, has been described as playing on the field is equivalent to ballet.
