NATIONAL EVENTS

The central government has extended the Stand Up India scheme till 2025.

  • The Central Government has extended the Stand Up India scheme to promote entrepreneurship among women, SCs and STs till 2025.
  • The scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2016 to provide loans to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and women borrowers.
  • The loan amount for the Stand Up India project is Rs. 10 lakhs to Rs. Up to Rs 1 crore can be obtained.

The Union Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the establishment of an Integrated Multipurpose Infrastructure Development Corporation for the Ladakh Union Territory.

  • Establishment of the Corporation will lead to inclusive and integrated development of the Union Territory of Ladakh. This will ensure the socio-economic development of the entire region and the population of the Union Territory.
  • The impact of growth will be multi-dimensional. This will enable further development of human resources and its optimal utilization. This increases the domestic production of goods and services and facilitates their balanced distribution. Thus, Atmanirbar will help to achieve the goal of Bharat.
  • According to the Jammu and Kashmir Reconstruction Act, 2019, the Union Territory of Ladakh (without Assembly) came into force on 31.10.2019 as a result of the reorganization of the former State of Jammu and Kashmir.
  • An Advisory Committee was constituted under Section 85 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reconstruction Act, 2019;
  • The committee recommended the establishment of an Integrated Infrastructure Development Corporation in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Integrated Development Corporation Limited (ANITCO).

Bharatiya Prakriti Krishi Pathi Project (BPKP)

  • The Government is implementing the Bharatiya Prakriti Krishi Padathi (BPKP) as a subsidiary of the Hereditary Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY) from 2020-21 to promote traditional indigenous practices.
  • The program mainly emphasizes the elimination of all synthetic chemical inputs and promotes the recycling of farm biomass;
  • Under BPKP, financial assistance of Rs. 12200 per hectare is provided for 3 years.
  • At present, 4.9 lakh hectares in 8 states and Rs. 4980.99 lakhs has been disbursed.
  • Telangana has not yet undertaken subsistence farming under this scheme.
  • BPKP – Bhartiya Prakritik Krishi Padhati
  • PKVY – Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana.

Celebration of India’s Golden Jubilee victory over Pakistan.

  • 50 The 50th anniversary of India’s victory in the 1971 Indo-Pakistani war was celebrated in Chennai.
  • The Golden Jubilee celebrations of this victory were inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi in December 2020 in Delhi.
  • The torch is carried to the four corners of the country, through cities and villages with widows and warriors.
  • Accordingly, the victory torch was brought to the headquarters of the South Indian region of Tamil Nadu on the 20th. The torch was received with due respect by the 12th Madras Army Division.
  • The victory torch is scheduled to be flown to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on the 30th.

Tokyo Olympics

  • The Tokyo Olympics are held in 42 venues. These are divided into two main areas, the Tokyo Bay Zone and the Heritage Zone.

Participating countries

  • More than 11,000 athletes from 200 countries participated in the Tokyo Olympics.

  • Syria’s proud tennis player Velanda is the youngest player in the world. He is 12 years old
  • The Elielian, a 57 – year – old Daryl tennis player from Kailamba, has been named the oldest player in the world.

Opening Ceremony

  • The opening ceremony of the historic Tokyo Olympics takes place at the New National Stadium. The stadium, which can seat 68,000 people, is attended by only about 1,000 people due to the corona epidemic.

India

  • Apart from hockey, India has won medals in Olympic history in athletics, wrestling, sniper, tennis, weightlifting, boxing and badminton.
  • India won a maximum of 6 medals at the 2012 London Olympics.
  • India won only 2 medals at the last Rio Olympics 2016.

Tamil Nadu players

  • 11 athletes from Tamil Nadu have participated in the Tokyo Olympics.
  • Revathi Veeramani, Suba Venkatesh and Thanalakshmi Sehgar from Tamil Nadu will compete in the men’s 5 4x400m relay, while Arogya Rajeev and Naganathan Pandi from Tamil Nadu will compete in the 4x400m relay.
  • Meanwhile, Sathyan, Sarath Kamal and Bhavani Devi are competing in the men’s table tennis singles. Along with them, Netra Kumanan, Ganapathy and Varun are also participating in sailing competitions.
  • Bhavani Devi is the first athlete to represent India in the fencing category at the Olympics.

Chandra Sehgar Azad’s Birthday – July 23

  • Chandrasekara Azad alias Chandrasekara Sitaram Tiwari was born on 23 July 1906 in Babra, Sabua District, Uttar Pradesh, India.
  • He was an Indian freedom fighter. He died of natural causes on February 27, 1931.
  • Alfred Park in Allahabad is also known as Chandrasekara Azad Park.

Bala Gangadhar Tilak’s Birthday – July 23

  • Tilak was born on July 23, 1856 in Ratnagiri, Maratha State.
  • An Indian “nationalist”, “social reformer” and freedom fighter. He was the first popular leader of the Indian Liberation Movement.
  • His name is also associated with the honorary title “Lokmanya”. Tilak was one of the first to demand autonomy for India.
  • His famous claim that autonomy is my birthright and I will receive it is still remembered in India. Tilak Maharaj was also known as the first person to create awareness about freedom among the people.
