National News

The central government has launched a new Portal “to help people track and trace their lost mobile phones”.

  • The Central Government is going to launch a new Portal called “Sanchar Saathi Portal” to help people track and trace their mobile phones.
  • The Portal will be officially launched on May 17 by the Ministry for Communication Ashwini, the central government said.

The central government made a “unique ID” mandatory for doctors.

  • According to the new Regulations of the National Medical Commission (NMC), it has been announced that doctors will now have to obtain a “Unique Identification Number” (UID) to practice medicine in our country.
  • This identification number has been developed with the focus of the NMC Ethics Committee to enable the practitioner to easily qualify for registration and medical practice in the NMR.

BrahMos supersonic missile from INS Mormugao has successfully hit the target and successfully tested.

  • The Indian Navy has successfully test-fired its INS Mormugao (Guided Missile Launcher) BrahMos supersonic missile, aiming to demonstrate its maritime dominance.
  • The missile hit the target at a speed of Mach 2.8, or nearly three times the speed of sound.

Shri Bhupender Yadav has launched a new app called “Meri Life”.

  • Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Shri Bhupender Yadav said the “Meri Life” app will help track the progress of the “Mission Life” program to encourage individual and community action to protect the environment.
  • The app will guide users to participate in life-related activities under the following 5 themes: saving energy, saving water, reducing single-use plastics, adopting sustainable diets and adopting a healthy lifestyle, according to Mission Life’s goals.

  • The indigenously built “Anti-Submarine Warfare Ship INS Kavaratti” left for “Badam” in Indonesia to participate in the fourth edition of India-Indonesia exercise ‘Samudra Shakti-2023 began on May 14′.
  • Samudra Shakti is an operational exercise aimed at enhancing “operational and mutual cooperation between the two navies”.

Pa Dawa holds the record for most ascents of Everest.

  • “Sherpa Pasang Thawa” from Nepal has climbed Mt Everest 26 times, equaling Kami Rita’s record for most climbs.
  • Pa Dawa has previously climbed Mount Everest 25 times, including two ascents in 2022. The first person in the world to climb Mount Everest most times – “Kami Rita”.

The Netherlands has emerged as India’s 3rd largest exporter

  • The Netherlands will become India’s third largest exporting country after the US and the UAE in 2022-23, According to the Commerce Ministry data released on May 14 .
  • It is notable that India’s trade with the Netherlands has increased from USD 8 billion in 2021-22 to USD 13 billion in 2022-23.

14 Special Development Councils to be created – Odisha Chief Minister Announced

  • Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced on May 14 that 14 Special Development Councils will be formed “to protect the unique identity and tribal culture of all tribal groups” in Odisha.
