National News

The Central government has published a list of gold smuggling statistics in the country

  • According to central government statistics, Kerala ranks first in gold smuggling in the country.
  • In the last 4 years, the highest number of smuggled gold in the country has been seized through 4 international airports in Kerala, and Tamil Nadu ranks second in the list.

Biotech-Kisan hubs programme

  • Dr Jitendra Singh said, Department of Biotechnology (DBT) is implementing farmers-centric Mission Programme ‘Biotech-Krishi Innovation Science Application Network’ (Biotech-KISAN).
  • The aim of the programme is to work with small and marginal farmers for better agriculture productivity through scientific intervention and evolving best farming practices.

7th India Water Impact Summit 2022

  • The Union Minister for Jal Shakti Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat will inaugurate the 7th India Water Impact Summit (IWIS 2022) from 15th to 17th December, 2022 at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi.
  • The objective of the summit is to impart impetus towards developing water and environmental infrastructure to protect rivers and water bodies in India.
    • The theme of the 7th India Water Impact Summit (IWIS 2022) is ‘Restoration and Conservation of Small Rivers in a Large Basin.

States with higher number of cybercrime police stations list was Published in India

  • Central government has announced the list of states with the highest number of cybercrime police stations across the country.
  • Tamil Nadu tops the list with maximum 46 cyber crime police stations, followed by Maharashtra with 43 cyber crime police stations, according to the central government.
    • The central government has also informed that reporting of cyber crimes can be done through the website cybercrime.gov.in.

Tamil Nadu cabinet has been modified

  • Tamil Nadu Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Stalin was sworn in on 7 May 2021. A total of 34 ministers took oath in this cabinet.
  • Now Udayanidhi Stalin, who assumed responsibility as the 35th Minister of Tamil Nadu, accepted the post as Minister of Youth Welfare and Sports Development, took the oath of office by Governor RN Ravi.

Literary Festival in Chennai – 2023

  • The literary festival will be held for three days from 06.01.2023 to 08.01.2023 at Anna Centenary Library Complex, In Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu,
  • The festival will be a platform for literary readers as literary works, peaks of culture and exhibition halls with dialogues of great personalities to guide college students towards literature.

First skin donation surgery in Jaipur

  • India’s first skin bank located at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Hospital, established in June 2022, and the hospital got its first skin donation on 14 Dec 2022.
  • And then in a hospital 50-year-old Anita Goyal was declared brain dead, her relatives upon the advice of the doctors, agreed to skin donation, and thereafter the state’s first skin cadaveric donation was successfully done in the hospital.

An ice cream factory has been opened in Salem on behalf of Aavin’s company in TamilNadu

  • Chief Minister M.K.Stalin has opened an ice cream factory in the Salem dairy complex for the benefit of Coimbatore, Erode and Salem district milk producer’s cooperative unions on behalf of Aavin.
  • This ice cream factory has been installed at a cost of Rs 12.26 crore with state of the art technology of producing 6000 liters per day.

Sportspersons pension amount has been increased in Tamil Nadu  

  • Udhayanidhi Stalin took over as the Sports Development Minister in Tamil Nadu.
  • After assuming charge as a minister, he implemented a plan to increase the pension of sports persons from Rs.3 thousand to Rs.6 thousand in Tamil Nadu.

President of Cardiological Society of India was elected

  • Eminent cardiologist from Hyderabad Dr P C Rath was formally elected as the president of the prestigious Cardiological Society of India (CSI) for the year 2023-24, in the annual meeting held at Chennai.
  • P C Rath is currently a senior consultant cardiologist and head of the department of cardiology at Apollo Hospitals, Jubilee Hills, and Hyderabad.
    • The Cardiological Society of India , the largest association of cardiologists in India, works towards the prevention of CVD and the reduction of cardiovascular mortality by raising awareness among its members, other healthcare professionals.

Scientists’ has achieved a New Fusion of Nuclei

  • Scientists in California have announced that US researchers have reached a new milestone in nuclear fusion technology, a turning point in human history and an attempt to generate more energy through nuclear fusion.
  • The purpose of fusion research is to replicate the nuclear reaction that produces energy in the Sun.

SEAL Business sustainability award 2022

  • Samsung won the SEAL Business Sustainability Award in the year 2022 for transforming fishing nets into high-performance, recycled materials for Galaxy devices.
  • The SEAL Business Sustainability Award is conducted every year and is judged by “a panel of sustainability and environmental, social and governance (ESG) experts.” The main aim of this award is to recognize the most impactful companies that promote sustainability and are actively working toward the betterment of the environment.

Junior World Cup Fencing -2022

  • The Junior Women’s Fencing World Cup (Fencing) will be held in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, on December 16 and 17, 2022.
  • Tamil Nadu player Joyce Ashita will be participating in this tournament to represent India.

19th International Junior Science Olympiad

  • The 19th edition of the competition was hosted at Bogota in Colombia, from 2 to 12 December,there were 203 students from 35 countries participating in this year’s IJSO. India won 6 gold medals in the IJSO.
  • This year’s competition was originally scheduled to be held in Kyiv, Ukraine; it was shifted to Bogota, Colombia in August 2022 due to the war in Ukraine.
  • The winners were

    • Rajdeep Mishra from Jamnagar,
    • Avaneesh Bansal from Dehradun,

An International Tea Day 2022

  • International Tea Day is observed annually on May 21, according to the United Nations but An International Tea Day has been celebrated on December 15, since 2005, in tea producing countries like India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Vietnam, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Kenya, Malawi, Malaysia, Uganda and Tanzania.
  • International Tea Day aims to draw global attention of governments and citizens to the impact of the global tea trade on workers and growers.
