48,000 crore rupees deal to procure 73 Tejas Mk-1A, 10 LCA Tejas Mk-1 Trainer:

  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has inaugurated Hindustan Aeronautics Limited’s (HAL) second Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) production line, in its Bengaluru facility of HAL. In this event, he officially announced that, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the 48,000 crore rupees deal to procure 73 LCA Tejas Mk-1A variants and 10 LCA Tejas Mk-1 trainer aircraft from HAL.
  • Tejas is a single engine and highly agile multi-role supersonic fighter capable of operating in high-threat air environments. Tejas Mk-IA will be equipped with active electronically scanned array radar, beyond visual range missile, electronic warfare suite and air-to-air refueling system.

Asia’s biggest Aero Show “Aero India-2021” begins at Bangalore:

  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurates the three-day mega event that is taking place for the first time in a hybrid mode due to Covid Pandemic.
  • 13th edition of Aero India show will see participants in both physical and virtual mode.
  • Over 200 MoUs will be signed between different procurement and manufacturing agencies. For the first time Defence ministers of Indian Ocean region from 27 countries will participate in person or through virtual mode.

IIT Kanpur has developed a light weight helicopter:

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) Kanpur members have developed a light weight helicopter. The weight of this helicopter is 4 kg. This will be showcased during the world’s First ‘Hybrid’ Air Show -Aero India 2021.

  • This helicopter has been developed by IIT-Kanpur’s incubated start-up company EndureAir Pvt Ltd.
  • Helicopter’s key features include vertical takeoff and landing, Long Range and Endurance, Obstacle Avoidance, Long Video Streaming and Precise Navigation.
  • This will help in the field of Medical Supply, CBRNE Detection, Crowd Monitoring, and Search and rescue

Jammu and Kashmir, Lt. Governor Adviser laid the foundation stone of Model Floriculture Centre:

Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Adviser to Lieutenant Governor Baseer Ahmad Khan today laid the foundation stone of Model Floriculture Centre at Bagh-e-Bhour in Jammu.

  • Model Centre will be beneficial for general population, particularly the locals of the area.
  • Once this centre developed, will impart training to farmers and will be self sufficient in flower cultivation

Ministry of AYUSH had signed 25 Country to Country MoUs:

Minister of State (The Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy), Sh. KirenRijiju (Additional Charge) mentioned that 25 Country to Country MoUs for Cooperation in field of Traditional Medicine and Homoeopathy were signed by Ministry of AYUSH.

  • 23 MoUs for undertaking collaborative research in AYUSH systems of medicine have been signed with various foreign universities in countries.
  • 13 MoUs for setting up of AYUSH academic Chairs with foreign institutes/ universities. During 2019-20, Ministry of AYUSH provided grant-in-aid of Rs. 494.91 Crore to States/ UTs for various components under NAM and States / UTs.

Andaman and Nicobar Islands is the first Union territory in India become Covid-19 free:

104.50 crore rupees allotted for UT Jammu and Kashmir for 2021-22:

Union Government has allocated 104.50 crore rupees in the Union budget for new central sector industrial development scheme for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for 2021-22.

  • The scheme is attractive for both smaller and larger industry units. This scheme attempts for a more sustained and balanced industrial growth in the entire Union Territory.

NBCFDC has signed MoU with Apollo Medskills Private Ltd:

National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation (NBCFDC) have signed MoU with Apollo Medskills Private Ltd.  The main objective of this MoU is providing COVID Vaccination Administration training to Nurses, Medical and Nursing students and Pharmacists belonging to its target group on a co-funding basis.

  • The Corporation has sanctioned training programme for 1,000 trainees in the state of Bihar, Delhi, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.

Maharashtra Govt. decides to provide financial assistance to start-up:

Maharashtra government has decided to provide financial assistance to start-up for registration of Intellectual property rights and Quality testing certificate.

  • Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray launched a financial assistance scheme for Startups.
  • Under this scheme government will reimburse up to 80% amount of patent registration and product testing & certification cost.
  • Maharashtra state innovation society is a nodal agency for this scheme.
  • Maharashtra government had already announced that, Mumbai’s SNDT Women’s University was declared as a Special incubation centre for Women entrepreneurs.

TNSCPCR Introduction Meet held in Chennai:

Tamil Nadu State Commission for Protection of Child is launched by Tamil Nadu government recently. The state has appointed Saraswathi Rangaswamy as a new chairperson to the Tamil Nadu State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (TNSCPCR) recently.

  • The appointment was made a year after the previous heads’ tenure ended in January 2020. Five new members have also taken charge and will address cases concerning child safety.
  • Now first meeting of this TNSCPCR is held on 02 February, 2021. Honorable Minister for Social Welfare and Nutritious Noon Meal Programme chaired this meeting.

India’s Merchandise Exports/ Imports Report:

The government of India has released India’s merchandise exports/ Imports in January 2021. As per the report, India’s merchandise exports in January 2021 were USD 27.24 billion as compared to USD 25.85 billion in January 2020, an increase of 5.37%.

  • India’s merchandise imports in January 2021were USD 41.99 billion, as compared to USD 41.15 billion in January 2020, an increase of 2.05%.

Bhavya Lal was appointed as the acting chief of staff of NASA:

Indian-American Bhavya Lal was appointed by NASA as the acting chief of staff of the US space agency. Mr. Lal has extensive experience in engineering and space technology, serving as a member of the research staff at the Institute for Defence Analyses Science and Technology Policy Institute (STPI) from 2005 to 2020.

Andy Jassy has appointed as Amazon CEO, succeeding Jeff Bezos

Andy Jassy will become chief executive, while Jeff Bezos will become executive chairman. Mr Bezos the founder of Amazon said that he will transition to the role of executive chairman and Andy Jassy will be the CEO of Amazon in the third quarter. The change will be effective in the third quarter, which starts in July.
