Rs.1 lakh incentive to SC, ST students in Bihar
- The Bihar Cabinet on Tuesday announced a Rs.1 lakh encouragement incentive for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe students who clear the UPSC preliminary test.
ANDHRA PRADESH
NABARD plans 1,200 dairy units for Srikakulam farmers
- The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has decided to develop 1,200 dairy units in this district, enabling farmers to generate assured income. It is expected to release Rs.62 crore to fund those projects.
International scientists’ meet begins in Tirupati
- The fourth annual edition of the Congress, conducted jointly by International Science Community Association, Indore (Madhya Pradesh) and Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha

President of India to visit Siachen base camp tomorrow
- The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, will visit Siachen Base Camp tomorrow (May 10, 2018) and interact with soldiers posted there.
- He will be the first President to visit this Camp since the visit of the then President, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam in 2004.
CxO Forum on “Standardizing the Digital Space”
- Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) the National Standards body of India organized a CxO Forum on “Standardizing the Digital Space” on 8 May, 2018 in New Delhi to deliberate on the key issues and challenges in the Digital space.
Advisory Council to advise on the matters related to its Terms of Reference
- The Fifteenth Finance Commission has constituted an Advisory Council to advise and assist the Commission.
Indian Guidelines for Diabetes Management
- Dr Jitendra Singh, who is also a nationally renowned Diabetologist, released here a compilation of “Indian Guidelines for Management of Diabetes Mellitus”, prepared by “Research Society for Study of Diabetes in India” (RSSDI).
Ministry of Railways introduces new Humsafar Train
- Indian Railways has introduced a new Humsafar train viz. 22437/22438 Allahabad-AnandVihar (T) Humsafar Express (Tri-weekly).

MoU signed between Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India(ALIMCO) and APCPL
- Distribution camps will be organized at CharkhiDadri District for an estimated cost of Rs 2 Crores.In the Distribution Camps artificial limbs, aids & appliances such as Motorized Tricycles Tricycle, Wheel Chairs, BTE Hearing Aids, Crutch Axilla Adjustable, Braille Cane, MSIED Kit, Braille Kit, Smart Cane, Smart Phones etc. to Persons with Disabilities will be distributed.
Atal Tinkering Marathon
- In an effort to identify India’s best student innovators, Atal Tinkering Labs of the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) of NITI Aayog, organized an Atal Tinkering Marathon, a six month long nationwide challenge across six different thematic areas, namely, clean energy, water resources, waste management, healthcare, smart mobility and agri-tech.
New guidelines for pharma makers will come into effect from July 1
- Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission has approved modern, animal-free tests for drug manufacturers.
- IPC has replaced the pyrogen test carried out on rabbits and the abnormal toxicity test carried out on guinea pigs and mice with tests that can be done in test tubes.
- The pyrogen test is carried out to check impurity or substance that can can cause adverse side-effects.
- The abnormal toxicity test is carried out to check potential hazardous biological contamination in vaccine formulations.

Govt approves green licence plates for e-vehicles
- To promote electric vehicles in India, the government has approved green licence plates bearing numbers in white fonts for private e-vehicles and yellow for taxis.

Novel drug may help treat hair loss
- Currently only two drugs — minoxidil and finasteride — are available for treatment of male-pattern balding (androgenetic alopecia).

MRI ‘glove’ captures clear images of hand anatomy
- In a first, scientists have developed a glove-shaped magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) detector that can capture high-quality images of moving joints.
Tumour removed by robotic surgery
- A team led by Indian-origin surgeon Neil Malhotra, an assistant professor decided to remove the tumour by using a trans-oral robotic (TORS)
- (TORS) trans-oral robotic is the world’s first group of minimally invasive robotic surgery techniques to remove benign and malignant tumours of the mouth and throat.
- Pernikoff became the first patient in the world to undergo a complex three-part, robotic-assisted surgery.
