September 5 – National Teachers Day

  • Teacher’s Day is celebrated on September 5 every year in India. The birth date of the second President of India, Dr.Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, 5 September 1888, has been celebrated as Teacher’s Day since 1962 in India.

September 5 – International Day of Charity

  • The date of 5 September was chosen in order to commemorate the anniversary of the passing away of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 “for work undertaken in the struggle to overcome poverty and distress, which also constitute a threat to peace.”

Gandhijis Nai Talim – curriculum on Experiential Learning released

  • Union HRD Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar released the curriculum on Experiential Learning – Gandhijis Nai Talim in New Delhi. This curriculum was brought out simultaneously in 13 languages in consultation with the state councils of educational research and training along with the universities in the country.
