Methanol to be introduced as a cooking fuel

  • Public sector Assam Petrochemicals Limited is set to introduce (first in India) – methanol as cleaner, cheaper alternative to liquefied petroleum gas. It will be launched on October 5.

Government cuts gross borrowing estimate

  • Economic Affairs Secretary SC Garg has announced a reduction in gross borrowing estimate for the current fiscal by 70,000 crore rupees and maintained that the government will contain fiscal deficit target at 3.3 %.


20th livestock Census

  • 20th livestock Census to be conducted from 1st October in all districts of the country. All States and Union Territories to participate.


National Level Workshop on Nutri-cereals (Millet)

  • Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shri Radha Mohan Singh inaugurated the National Level Workshop on Nutri-cereals (Millet). Twenty Embryo Transfer Technology Centres are being established in the country and a proposal of 19 centres has been approved.

Wage Compensation scheme

  • Assam government will launch Wage Compensation scheme for Pregnant Women in tea gardens of the state which will provide better health and nutrition supplements to the pregnant women.

  • Minister of Railways and Coal, Shri Piyush Goyal has launched “Rail Heritage Digitisation Project” of Indian Railways in collaboration with Google Arts & Culture to showcase country’s Rail Heritage to National and International audience in an online story-telling platform.


MoU between Punjab& Himachal Pradesh

  • Punjab and Himachal Pradesh governments signed a Memorandum of Understanding to set up a ropeway in Public Private Partnership mode between Anandpur Sahib and Naina Devi.

NITI Aayog and Oracle sign a Statement of Intent

  • In order to fight the growing problem of counterfeit drugs in India, NITI Aayog and Oracle signed a Statement of Intent (SoI) to pilot a real drug supply-chain using blockchain distributed ledger and Internet of Things (IoT) software. Apollo Hospitals and Strides Pharma Sciences will partner in this effort.

MoHUA partners with Google

  • The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, under the aegis of Swachh Bharat Mission – Urban (SBM – U), has partnered with Google to launch the Loo Review campaign to encourage all local guides in India to rate and review public toilets on Google Maps.

  • Alexa is a voice-enabled platform led by artificial intelligence. Information and Broadcasting Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore launched All India Radio’s streaming Services on Amazon’s Alexa Smart Speakers in New Delhi.

  • India has lifted the Asia Cup for a record-extending seventh time. India defeated Bangladesh by 3 wickets in the finals.
