ANSWERS AND EXPLANATION

1)  B) November 25

  • The United Nations General Assembly has designated November 25 as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (Resolution 54/134). The premise of the day is to raise awareness of the fact that women around the world are subject to rape, domestic violence and other forms of violence; furthermore, one of the aims of the day is to highlight that the scale and true nature of the issue is often hidden.

2)  C) Cairo

  • In Egypt, a large cache of mummified animals, found in an ancient Egyptian necropolis, have been displayed for the first time near the Capital Cairo. Archaeologists discovered the trove last year, near the Step Pyramid of Saqqara, south of the capital. They uncovered hundreds of artefacts, including masks, statues and mummified cats, crocodiles, cobras and birds.

3)  B) National Cadet Corps

  • The National Cadet Corps (NCC), the world’s largest uniformed youth organization, is celebrating its 71st Raising Day. The celebrations began, with Defence Secretary Dr Ajay Kumar and DG NCC Lt Gen Rajeev Chopra paying homage to the martyrs, who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation, at the National War Memorial in New Delhi. The NCC Raising Day was also celebrated all over the country with the cadets participating in marches, cultural activities and social development programs.

4)  D) Nitin Gadkari

  • Union Minister for Road Transport Nitin Gadkari released a booklet titled ‘Convergence of National Highway improvement/construction with water conservation and groundwater recharge’ at Agro Vision-2019 in Nagpur. The 4-Day agriculture exhibition, Agro Vision-2019 began on 22 Nov 2019.

5)  B) B.R.Ambedkar

  • In the run-up to Constitution Day on 26th November, we recall the thoughts shared by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address to the Parliament at the conclusion of debate on a commitment to the Constitution as a part of 125th birth anniversary celebration of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on 27th November 2015.The Prime Minister said that the Constitution has the potential to unite the diverse elements of a large country like India.

6)  B) V.Srinivas Mohan

  • A Master class on The Art of Visual Effects was conducted by National award-winning Visual effects designer, V Srinivas Mohan. He has worked for films like 2.0 and Baahubali. He was addressing an audience full of film students as he told them about modern techniques. In the film 2.0, the virtual camera was used and operated remotely to get stunning effects.

7)  C) New Delhi

  • The Prime Minister was addressing the 50th Conference of Governors which concluded in New Delhi. He said, the discussion on JalJeevan Mission in the conference reflected the priority given by the Government to water conservation and water management techniques.

8)  D) Manipur

  • In Manipur, week-long Manipur Sangai Festival 2019 started. The festival is organized by the State Tourism Department and biggest festival held annually to promote tourism. The formal inaugural function of the festival was held at Hapta Kangjeibung at Imphal.

9)  B) New Delhi

  • The two-day Air Force Commanders’ Conference will begin in New Delhi. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will inaugurate the meet. Top commanders of the Indian Air Force will participate in it and discuss the operational, maintenance and administrative matters related to Air Force.

10)  A) India

  • India beat Bangladesh by an innings and 46 runs in the Day and Night Pink ball Test to win the series 2-0 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The victory in the second Test records a 12th home series win in a row. India had earlier won the first Test against Bangladesh by an innings and 130 runs in Indore.

11)  C) Rafael Nadal

  • In tennis, world number one Rafael Nadal has clinched sixth Davis Cup title for Spain after beating Denis Shapovalov of Canada in front of a jubilant home crowd in Madrid. Nadal defeated Shapovalov 6-3, 7-6 (9-7) to clinch Spain’s 2-0 win against Canada.

12)  B) 28

  • In wrestling, India concluded its campaign at the Under-15 Asian Championships with 28 medals, including 13 gold, 14 silver and a bronze. The superb show by Indian grapplers continued as they won 5 gold on the last day at Taichung, China. Led by 2019 Cadet World Championships bronze medalist Deepak Chahal, the freestyle grapplers captured four gold while one gold came in the Greco-Roman category.

13)  B) Lakshya sen

  • In badminton, India’s Lakshya Sen has won the Scottish Open men’s single title, defeating Brazilian Ygor Coelho to seal his fourth title in three months. The 18-year-old Indian started his year with a silver medal at the Polish Open International Challenge in March. After a series of disappointing exits, Sen went on to win the Belgian International in September, his first title of the year.
