UGC to set up a consortium for approved journals

  • University Grants Commission, UGC has decided to set up a Consortium of Academic and Research Ethics (CARE) which will prepare a fresh list of credible quality journals in the non-science disciplines.

Uttar Pradesh

Training centre for eco skilled Ganga Mitras

  • In Uttar Pradesh, the first training centre in the country for eco skilled Ganga Mitras started at Banaras Hindu University to measure the pollution level in Ganga and help the government in many ways to keep the holy river clean.

INTERNATIONAL

EU sets goal to be ‘climate neutral’ by 2050

  • The European Union has urged government, businesses, citizens and regions to join it in an ambitious plan to cut emissions and make the bloc carbon neutral by 2050.

South Korea tests space rocket engine

  • South Korea conducted a rocket engine test launch, paving the way for the development of its own space launch vehicle. It is the first such launch in South Korea since 2013.

PSLV-C43 successfully launched 31 satellites

  • The Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C43) successfully launched 31 satellites from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in Sriharikota.
  • 31 Satellite includes India’s Hyper-Spectral Imaging Satellite (HysIS) and 30 foreign satellites
  • ISRO to launch its heaviest satellite, GSAT-11, on Dec 5, 2018

Interim Budget for 2019-20

  • Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to present interim Budget for 2019-20 fiscal on 1st of February next year.

  • The UN Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) renewed appeals for better policies and technologies to reach ‘zero hunger’ around the world.

Saubhagya scheme

  • 8 States have achieved 100% saturation in household electrification under Saubhagya namely Madhya Pradesh, Tripura, Bihar, J&K, Mizoram, Sikkim, Telangana and West Bengal.
  • Nation expected to achieve 100% household electrification by 31st December, 2018.

Bhasha Sangam

  • The government has launched a unique initiative called Bhasha Sangam to introduce school students to 22 Indian languages.
  • The initiative, under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, was launched on 22nd of this month and will continue till the 21st of December.

MOU, AGREEMENTS & CABINET APPROVALS

India, China ink protocol on hygiene & inspection requirements for exports

  • India and China have signed a protocol on hygiene and inspection requirements for the exports in New Delhi. The move would enable India to commence export of fish meal and fish oil to China.

Exercise INDRA 2018

  • In Uttar Pradesh, 11 days long joint military exercise between India and Russia culminated at Babina Military station, Jhansi.
