November 21 – World Television Day

  • In December 1996 the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 21 November as World Television Day commemorating the date on which the first World Television Forum was held in 1996. 

November 21 – World Fisheries Day

  • World Fisheries day is celebrated every year on November 21 throughout the world by the fisher folk communities to ensure sustainable stocks of fisheries and healthy oceans ecosystems.

Goa

Inauguration of multi-media digital exhibition on Mahatma Gandhi at IFFI

  • Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore inaugurated a multi-media digital exhibition on Mahatma Gandhi at the International Film festival of India (IFFI) in Panaji, Goa.
  • “Mahatma on Celluloid” exhibition has been organized by National Film Archives of India in collaboration with the Bureau of Outreach and Communication, Information and Broadcasting Ministry.

Odisha

33% reservation for women in state assemblies

  • The Odisha Assembly has unanimously passed a resolution seeking 33 per cent reservation for women in legislative assemblies and Parliament.

‘Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC)’

  • Union HRD Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar through video conferencing launched the ‘Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) program under Innovation cell of MHRD in New Delhi.
  • Ministry of Human Resource Development has established an “Innovation cell” at AICTE with a purpose to systematically foster the culture of Innovation in all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across the country.

UN migration pact

  • Australian government has announced that it would reject a UN migration pact already denounced by the United States and several European countries.

US suspends security assistance to Pakistan

  • The United States has suspended its 1.66 billion dollar security assistance to Pakistan.
  • So far Pakistan has taken no serious steps to address the core US concern that Pakistan often encourages groups which use violence against its neighbors.

Saudi, UAE announce USD 500 million in aid to war-torn Yemen

  • Saudi Arabia and the UAE, which lead a military coalition against the Huthi rebels in Yemen announced USD 500 million in aid to the country on the brink of famine.
  • Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates will each give USD 250 million in response to the food crisis to support more than 10 million people.

3rd India-Singapore Defence Minister dialogue

  • 3rd India-Singapore Defence Minister dialogue concludes in Visakhapatnam.
  • The significance the meeting was the renewal of Bilateral Agreement for Conduct of Joint Army Training as well as exercises for Singapore Armed Forces in India.
  • The 4th Defence Minister’s dialogue will be held in Singapore next year.

Community radio awareness workshop

  • A community radio awareness workshop organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting was inaugurated at the International Centre Goa near Panaji.
  • The ministry is jointly organizing the workshop with Seeking Modern Applications For Real Transformation (SMART).
  • This is the 79th such workshop and the first in Goa.

NMCG approves composite Sewerage Projects in Agra

  • The Executive Committee (EC) of the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) has approved ten projects worth Rs 1573.28 crore.
  • Composite Sewerage Projects in Agra to help save Taj and reduce pollution in Yamuna Namami Gange projects in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Himachal Pradesh.

SPORTS

Acrobatic Gymnastics World Cup

  • Indian gymnasts won two bronze medals in the men’s[Prins Aris and Rejilesh Suribabu] and women’s group [Ayushi Ghodeswar, Prachi Parkhi and Mrunmayi Walde] events of the FIG Acrobatic World Cup in Baku.

India Vs Australia T20 Series

  • India lost to Australia by 4 runs, in the first Twenty-20 International of the three-match series at Brisbane.
