November 13 – World Kindness Day
  • World Kindness Day is celebrated annually on 13th November. World Kindness Day was first launched in 1998 by The World Kindness Movement, an organisation formed at a 1997 Tokyo conference of like-minded kindness organisations from around the world.
Vigilance Awareness Week
  • ‘Vigilance Awareness Week’ was observed by Indian Army from 29th October to 3rd November 2018 regarding maintaining core values of honesty and integrity in the organization.

‘Adarana scheme’
  • The State government distributed assets worth RS. 86.03 crore to around 23,000 poor beneficiaries at Pedarikam Pai Gelupu – Adarana II at the STBC grounds. Online selection of beneficiaries and disbursal of implements through various government corporations would ensure each household a steady income.

Goa government bans fish import
  • Goa government issued an order imposing a ban on the import of fish into the state. The decision has been taken in view of continuing uncertainty about the presence of formalin in imported fish in Goa.
Foundation stone for All India Institute of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy in Goa
  • Union minister of state for Ayush Shripad Naik laid the foundation stone for the All India Institute of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy at Dhargal, North Goa.

Amnesty International strips Myanmar’s Aung San Suu Kyi of highest honour
  • Amnesty International has withdrawn its most prestigious human rights prize from Aung San Suu Kyi, accusing the Myanmar leader of perpetuating human rights abuses by not speaking out about violence against the Rohingya Muslim minority.

NASA releases new image of Jupiter’s swirling clouds
  • NASA’s Juno spacecraft has beamed back a stunning image of Jupiter, showing the gas giant’s multitude of colourful, swirling clouds. The image was taken on October 29 as Juno performed its 16th close flyby of Jupiter
ISRO to launch modern communication satellite GSAT-29 onboard rocket GSLV-Mark-Three
  • The Indian Space Research Organization ISRO will launch the modern communication satellite GSAT-29 onboard the rocket GSLV-Mark-Three. This would be the second development flight of the heavier launch vehicle GSLV Mark-III.
  • It has the capacity to lift satellites of about four-tons into a geostationary transfer orbit.

  • The International Conference on Yoga for Public Health was inaugurated at Kala Academy, Panjim. The conference is being organised by the Ayush ministry.

  • The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, is hosting a conference on Global Digital Content Market (GDCM)2018, on14th- 15thNovember 2018, in New Delhi.The conference will feature sessions on music, film, broadcasting and publishing, as well as collective management, emerging models and the implications for the market and policy makers.
2nd Startup India Investment Seminar in Beijing
  • Embassy of India in China in partnership with Startup India Association (SIA) and Venture Gurukool organized 2nd Startup India Investment Seminar on 12 November 2018 in Beijing for fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among Indian youth.The 1st Startup Indian Investment event was organised in November 2017.

Indian Wind Turbine Certification Scheme   (IWTCS)
  • Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, in consultation with National Institute of Wind Energy Chennai, has prepared a draft of new Scheme called Indian Wind Turbine Certification Scheme (IWTCS) incorporating various guidelinesTurbine Certification Scheme (IWTCS).
  • The IWTCS is envisaged to assist and facilitate the following stakeholders; (i.) Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) (ii.) End Users -Utilities, SNAs, Developers, IPPs, Owners, Authorities, Investors and Insurers (iii.) Certification Bodies (iv.) Testing Laboratories
Leadership for Academicians Program (LEAP) and Annual Refresher Programme In Teaching (ARPIT) for higher education faculty
  • Satya Pal Singh, Minister of State, Ministry of Human Resource Development, launched two new initiatives; Leadership for Academicians Programme (LEAP) and Annual Refresher Programme In Teaching (ARPIT) for higher education faculty at New Delhi.

  • The joint military exercise between Indian and Russia EXERCISE INDRA 2018 on combating insurgency under the aegis of United Nations (UN) is being conducted at Babina Field Firing Ranges, Babina Military Station from 18 November 2018.

  • The tenth anniversary of Indian Ocean Naval Symposium began in Kochi.
Sea Vigil coastal security exercise in January
  • The Indian Navy is gearing up to hold Sea Vigil, a massive coastal security exercise covering, for the first-time, the entire coastal mainland and the island territories, in January next year
