November 10 – International Accounting Day,
  • November 10th is International Accounting Day. It is in honour of Italian mathematician Luca Pacioli, who published the first book about double-entry book keeping on November 10th 1494, that International Accounting Day started.
November 10 – World Science Day for Peace and Development
  • World Science Day for Peace and Development is celebrated on 10 November. It highlights the important role of science in society and the need to engage the wider public in debates on emerging scientific issues. It also underlines the importance and relevance of science in our daily lives.

Delhi’s air quality improves to ‘very poor’ category
  • Delhi’s air quality on improved to the ‘very poor’ category. The overall air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 394 which falls in the ‘very poor’ category, according to the data by the Central Pollution Control Board.
TAMIL NADU
Tamil Nadu has lost 41% of its shoreline
  • In the past two decades, Tamil Nadu has reportedly lost 41% of its shoreline to erosion. ports development, construction of dams in the rivers that block supply of sediments to coastline are some of the reasons for erosion apart from the natural causes such as sea-level rise and storms.

24th Kolkata International Film Festival
  • The 24th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) began at the Netaji Indoor Stadium. This is considered to be the country’s second oldest film festival, also has a plethora of award winning international films from US, Spain, France and Russia.

  • The President Maithripala Sirisena had dissolved Parliament through a gazette notification and called for elections on 5th January.
China clinches multi-billion-dollar strategic port deal with Myanmar
  • China has clinched a multi-billion-dollar deal to build a port at a strategic town along the coast of the Bay of Bengal in Myanmar, its third project in India’s neighbourhood after Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
U.S. to halt refueling of Saudi-led coalition aircraft
  • The United States is halting refueling of aircraft from the Saudi-led coalition engaged in Yemen, Saudi Arabia, a move that would end one of the most divisive aspects of U.S. assistance to the Saudi war effort.

NASA probe set to visit Jupiter’s Trojan asteroids
  • NASA’s Ralph – a space instrument that has travelled as far as Pluto – is set to explore Jupiter’s Trojan asteroids, which are remnants from the early days of the solar system. In 2021, Ralph is set to journey with the Lucy mission to Jupiter’s Trojan asteroids.

Digital payment transactions jump to 244 cr in Aug 2018
  • The number of digital payment transactions in India touched 244.81 crore in August 2018 underlining the massive adoption of digital payment modes over the last two years.
  • New payment modes, BHIM-UPI, AePS and NETC have transformed digital payment ecosystem by increasing Person to Person (P2P) as well as Person to Merchant (P2M) payments said by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

Wrestler Bajrang Punia becomes World number one in 65kg category
  • Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia achieved number one rank in the world in the 65kg category.The 24-year-old Bajrang, who has won five medals this season, including CWG and Asian Games gold and a silver at the World Championship, was placed atop the ranking table with 96 points in the UWW list.
Asian Airgun Championships
  • Indian pair of Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary have won Gold medal creating a world record in the 10 meter air pistol mixed team junior event at 11th Asian Airgun Championships in Kuwait.
Harmanpreet Kaur becomes first Indian woman to score T20I century
  • Harmanpreet Kaur slammed her maiden T20I century during India’s opening match of the ICC Women’s World T20 2018 against New Zealand in Providence Stadium, Guyana.
  • Harmanpreet also became the first Indian woman to score a century in T20I. She is now the third player in world cricket to score a T20I International century.
