National guidelines on responsible business conduct
- Ministry of Corporate Affairs has released national guidelines on responsible business conduct. These guidelines urge businesses to actualise the principles in letter and spirit. It should also respect and promote the well-being of all employees, including those in their value chains.

New Zealand bans Boeing 737 MAX aircrafts
- New Zealand has announced the grounding of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft from its airspace in the wake of a deadly plane crash in Ethiopia. Country’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said it was imposing the temporary suspension after consultation with other regulators.
India awards 200 Golden Jubilee Scholarships
- The Indian Embassy in Nepal awarded 200 Golden Jubilee Scholarships to meritorious Nepali students for continuing various undergraduate courses at colleges and universities. These Scholarships are part of India’s efforts to support human resources development in Nepal for the overall socio-economic development of the Himalayan nation and its people.

First person on Mars may be a woman, says NASA
- NASA recently announced that it will have its first all-female spacewalk at the end of the month. NASA has said that the first person to set foot on Mars is likely to be a woman.
India’s newest frog evolved 60 million years ago

The discovery of the starry dwarf frog, a nocturnal amphibian that lives under leaf litter on a mountaintop in Kerala’s Wayanad. The team named the new species the starry dwarf frog Astrobatrachus kurichiyana (genus Astrobatrachus after its starry spots and kurichiyana in honour of the Kurichiya tribal community who live in the area). It is just 2 cm long and sports pale blue spots and brilliant orange thighs. Genetic analysis reveals that the species is at least 60 million years old.

RBI to infuse Rs 12,500 crore via OMOs
- The Reserve Bank of India, RBI has said it will infuse 12,500 crore rupees into the system through open market operations (OMOs). OMOs are money market tools to infuse or suck out liquidity from the system.

- Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale and the U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs David Hale held Foreign Office Consultations in Washington, DC.
India gets first TIR shipment via Chabahar Port from Afghanistan
- The first shipment under the United Nations ‘Transports Internationaux Routiers’ (TIR) convention arrived in India from Afghanistan through Iran’s Chabahar Port. India had joined the TIR Convention (the United Nations Customs Convention on International Transport of Goods under cover of TIR Carnets) on June 15, 2017.

The Union Cabinet has approved the General Elections to the Lok Sabha 2019 for issuance of statutory notifications under sub-section(2) of Section 14 of the Representation of the People Act.
Centre justifies its law granting 10-per cent quota for EWS
- The Centre has justified its law granting 10-per cent quota for Economically Weaker Section (EWS), saying it has been brought to promote social equality.
DGCA decides to ground Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft
- The Directorate General of Civil Aviation, DGCA has decided to ground Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft with immediate effect. The decision comes in the wake of Ethiopian Airlines crash in Addis Ababa killing all 157 people on board.
Cabinet approved the proposal for Accession to the Nice, Vienna and Locarno Agreements
- Nice Agreement – concerning the International classification of Goods and Services for the purposes of registration of marks.
- Vienna Agreement – establishing an International Classification of the figurative elements of marks.
- Locarno Agreement – establishing an International classification for industrial designs.
