Madhya Pradesh

MP govt announces to give Rs 5000 each to all cleanliness employees of six clean cities

  • In Madhya Pradesh, the state government has announced to give five thousand rupees each to all the cleanliness employees of six clean cities of as honorarium for their excellent work.
  • The six cities Indore, Ujjain, Dewas, Khargone, Nagda and Bhopal having included in the top 20 clean cities in 4237 cities of the country.

11 more State DD Channels on Satellite footprint

  • Prasar Bharati has brought 11 more state DD channels, including five channels of North-Eastern States, on the Satellite footprint of India through DD Free Dish which will push the outreach and accessibility of Doordarshan.
  • It is for the first time that Chhattisgarh, Goa, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Uttarakhand have got their own DD Channel on a Satellite Network through DD Free Dish.

Committee to examine insurance cover to advocates

  • The government has set up a committee to examine the issues related to framing of a proper, structured scheme for providing insurance cover to advocates and suggest modalities for its implementation. Law and Justice Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has set up the five-member panel under the chairmanship of Secretary Legal Affairs.
  • The committee will recommend a comprehensive insurance scheme for the welfare of advocates all over the country to address concerns relating to untimely death and medical insurance.

PM inaugurates Civil Terminal at Hindon airport, Metro projects in Lucknow & Ghaziabad

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Hindon Airport Civil Terminal in Ghaziabad. He also inaugurated Dilshad Garden – Shaheed Sthal Section of Delhi Metro Red Line and foundation stone of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System RRTS. It will be the first RRTS of the country being built at a cost of 30 thousand crore rupees.

Sri Lankan government initiates plan to have women compartments in trains

  • Sri Lanka government initiated a plan to have special dedicated women compartments in trains to mark International women day. The ‘Women Only’ compartments aim at preventing the sexual harassment and hardship endured by women using public transport.
  • According to a study conducted by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), 90 per cent of women and girls in Sri Lanka have endured sexual harassment at least once in their lifetime on public buses and trains. However, only four per cent of those affected reported the incident to the police.

Finland government resigns over failed reforms

  • Finnish Prime Minister Juha Sipila’s centre-right government has resigned, just five weeks ahead of the Parliamentary election. The resignation came after the government failed to push through a flagship social and health care reform package.

116-year-old Japanese woman officially named oldest person

  • 116-year-old Japanese woman Kane Tanaka has been honoured as the world’s oldest living person by Guinness World Records. The previous oldest living person was another Japanese woman, Chiyo Miyako, who passed away last July, aged 117.

Indias envoy to Pakistan return to Islamabad

  • The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has said, India’s High Commissioner to Pakistan Ajay Bisaria will return to Islamabad.

N Korea preparing missile launch, suggest satellite images

  • In North Korea, satellite images of a facility near Pyongyang suggest that the country may be preparing to launch a missile or a satellite.

India, Japan hold inaugural space dialogue

  • The inaugural India-Japan Space Dialogue was held in New Delhi provided an opportunity for information exchange on the respective space policies. Discussions were also held on bilateral cooperation between JAXA-ISRO, their space industries, global navigation satellite system, space situational awareness, space security and space-related norms.

Centre, ADB sign 26 million dollar loan pact

  • The Centre and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have signed a 26 million dollar loan agreement to provide additional financing for improving drainage infrastructure in Dibrugarh town of Assam.

Govt reduces price of 390 anti-cancer drugs upto 87 pc

  • The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority under Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers put out the list of 390 anti-cancer non-scheduled medicines with Maximum Retail Price reduction up to 87 per cent. This move is expected to benefit 22 lakh cancer patients in the country and will result in annual savings of nearly 800 crore rupees to the consumers.

SC appoints three-member mediation panel in Ayodhya land dispute case

  • Supreme Court appoints three-member mediation panel in Ayodhya land dispute case. Former apex court judge Justice (retd) F M Kallifulla will head a panel of mediators in the case. Other members of the panel of mediators include spiritual guru Shri Shri Ravi Shankar and senior advocate Sriram Panchu.

  • Commander US Special Operations Command of Army General Raymond Thomas who is on an official visit to India called on Army Chief General Bipin Rawat. Both the Generals deliberated on the developing regional security environment and issue of global terrorism.

  • England beat India by 1 run in the final T20 of three-match series, clinching the series 3-0.

All England Championship – Badminton

  • Saina Nehwal lost to Tai Tzu-Ying of Taipei 15-21, 19-21 in quarterfinal clash at the All England Championship at Birmingham. It was her 13th straight defeat against Tai Tzu-Ying, who has not lost to Saina since 2015.
