Home Minister inaugurates BOLD-QIT project

  • Home Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the project BOLD-QIT (Border Electronically Dominated QRT Interception Technique) on India-Bangladesh border in Dhubri District of Assam. Information and Technology Wing of BSF undertook the project BOLD-QIT under Comprehensive Integrated Border Management system

  • The Minister of State for Culture (Independent charge) and Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Dr. Mahesh Sharma inaugurated ‘AzaadikeDiwane’ museum at Red Fort, Delhi. Created by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the museum within the Red Fort complex pays homage to all the unsung heroes of freedom struggle of the nation.

Smriti Irani inaugurates refurbished Handloom Haat at Janpath, New Delhi

  • Textiles Minister Smriti Irani today inaugurated the refurbished Handloom Haat at Janpath in New Delhi. The main objective of the Haat is to provide infrastructure support to handloom agencies to augment their sales of handloom products and to showcase the exquisite variety of products produced all over the country.

  • In Uttar Pradesh, 49 days long Kumbh 2019 the largest religious congregation in the world, concluded with over one crore devotees taking the holy dip at Sangam in Prayagraj on the occasion of ‘Mahashivratri’.

Russia suspends participation in Intermediate-Range Nuclear treaty with US

  • Russian President Vladimir Putin has officially suspended the country’s participation in a key Cold War-era nuclear arms-control treaty with the United States.

Nepal Government officials join INGAF training course in New Delhi

  • The Third group of 22 officials of Nepal’s Ministry of Finance joined their training course on ‘Global Perspectives on Public Financial Management’ at the Institute of Government Accounts and Finance (INGAF) in New Delhi.
  • The training is being held under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme of the Ministry of External Affairs.

Washington’s decision to withdraw India from GSP list

  • Commerce Secretary Anup Wadhawan said, US’ decision to withdraw India’s name from Generalised System of Preferences (GSP) list will not have any significant impact on country’s 5.6 billion dollar exports to the country. The, economic value of GSP benefits are very moderate.

Over six billion people regularly inhaling air so polluted that it puts their life at risk: UN expert

  • UN expert on environment and human rights David Boyd has said, over six billion people, one-third of them children, are regularly inhaling air so polluted that it puts their life, health and well-being at risk. He said, air pollution is a silent killer responsible for the premature death of seven million people each year, including 600,000 children.

China slashes its GDP target to 6-6.5%

  • The world’s second largest economy China slashed its GDP target to 6 to 6.5 per cent this year.

Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan (PM-SYM) Yojana

  • The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, launched the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan (PM-SYM) Yojana at Vastral in Gujarat. The national pension scheme for workers and labourers of unorganised sector was announced in the interim budget in February this year. He also distributed the PM-SYM pension cards to select beneficiaries.
  • It will provide monthly pension of 3000 rupees to the employees of unorganised sector after 60 years of age.

Young Scientist Programme

  • Indian Space Research Organisation has launched a special programme for School Children called “Young Scientist Programme” “YUva VIgyani KAryakram” from this year. The Program is primarily aimed at imparting basic knowledge on Space Technology, Space Science and Space Applications to the younger ones with the intent of arousing their interest in the emerging areas of Space activities.

  • PM launches One Nation, One Card in Ahmedabad for Mobility Single Card for seamless travel through different metros and other transport systems. National Common Mobility Card, NCMC- India’s first indigenously developed payment platform

Al Nagah 2019

  • The third edition of the bilateral joint exercise between India and Oman, Al Nagah 2019 will begin from 12th of this month at Jabel Al Akhdar Mountains in Oman. The aim of this exercise is to enhance interoperability in counter terrorist operations in semi urban mountainous terrain.

Rs 35, 000 cr released to be disbursed under OROP for defence personnel

  • Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman says 35 thousand crore rupees have been released to be disbursed under the One-Rank One-Pension(OROP) for the defence personnel.

Yonex All England Championships 2019

  • Badminton’s greatest show, the Yonex All England Championships 2019 begins in Birmingham. Only the top 32 in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings qualify for the tournament.
