  • The Lok Sabha passed, amid din, a Statutory Resolution approving the proclamation of President’s Rule in Jammu and Kashmir. However, some of the opposition members later objected to it.

Maharashtra government implements 7th Pay Commission recommendation

  • The Maharashtra government implemented the recommendations of the 7th pay commission to its employees which will benefit the officers, employees, teachers from the unaided schools and those from Zilla Parishad institutions.

UAE resumes Damascus embassy in Syria

  • United Arab Emirates has resumed its diplomatic service at Damascus in Syria after six years of suspension signaling a thaw in the relations between the two countries, as also with the Arab world.

India sends poll observers to Bangladesh

  • India has sent observers to Bangladesh to witness the elections to be held. Three officials were designated from India to observe the elections in that country.

India will see two eclipses in 2019

  • Astronomy enthusiasts and skygazers will be able to experience five eclipses in 2019, two of which will be visible in India.
  • A partial lunar eclipse set to take place on July 16-17 will be visible in India and so will an annular (ring-shaped) solar eclipse on December 26

MSP for Copra hiked by more than Rs.2000 per quintal

  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, CCEA has approved hike in Minimum Support Price for Copra by more than two thousand rupees per quintal for 2019 season.

India announces Rs 4,500 crore assistance to Bhutan

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a Rs 4,500 crore financial assistance to Bhutan for its 12th five-year plan after holding wide-ranging talks with his Bhutanese counterpart Dr. Lotay Tshering. The new five-year plan of Bhutan began this year and will continue till 2022.

Traders welcome new e-commerce rules

  • A day after the government issued a clarification, tightening the norms for e-commerce players, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) welcomed the decision and demanded that the rules be implemented with retrospective effect from April 1, 2018 so as to void the Walmart acquisition of Flipkart.

Cabinet approves amendment to POCSO Act

  • The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the proposal for Amendment in the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 to make punishment more stringent for committing sexual crimes against children.

Listing of certain unlisted CPSEs on Stock Exchange

  • The government has approved the listing of seven Central Public Sector Enterprises on the Stock Exchange.

Cabinet approves setting up of the National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH) Bill, 2018

  • The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the draft National Commission for Homoeopathy, Bill, 2018, which seeks to replace the existing regulator Central Council for Homoeopathy (CCH) with a new body to ensure transparency.

  • The Cabinet approved the draft National Commission for Indian Systems of Medicine (NCIM) Bill, 2018, which seeks to replace the existing regulator Central Council for Indian Medicine (CCIM) with a new body to ensure transparency.

Cabinet approves Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) Notification 2018

  • The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) Notification, 2018 which was last reviewed and issued in 2011, with periodic amendments to some clauses.

Cabinet apprised of Framework Agreement between India and Sao Tome & Principe

  • The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has been apprised of Framework Agreement between India and Sao Tome & Principe on Cooperation in the Exploration and Uses of Outer Space for Peaceful Purposes. The Framework Agreement was signed in New Delhi, on 7th September 2018.
