  • Senior Congress leader Kamal Nath will be the new Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.

Punjab

Punjab Assembly passes resolution urging Centre to hasten enactment of Women’s Reservation Bill

  • Punjab Assembly unanimously passed the resolution moved by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh urging Central government to hasten enactment of Women’s Reservation Bill providing for the reservation of one-third of seats in the Lok Sabha and Legislative Assemblies for women.
  • Punjab has already reserved 50 per cent seats in Urban Local Bodies and Panchayati Raj institutions for women.

  • Ashok Gehlot will be the new Chief Minister of Rajasthan and Sachin Pilot will be his Deputy.

Global debt hits all-time high of USD 184 trillion

  • The International Monetary Fund said that global debt has reached an all-time high of 184 trillion US dollars with the United States, China and Japan accounting for more than half of it.
  • According to the IMF report, the amount in nominal terms, is the equivalent of 225 per cent of the world GDP in 2017.

Interpol issues Red Corner Notice against Mehul Choksi

  • The Interpol has issued a Red Corner Notice (RCN) against absconding billionaire Mehul Choksi, who is accused of cheating state-run Punjab National Bank to the tune of over 13,000 crore rupees.

4th WHO Global Forum on Medical Devices

  • 4th WHO Global Forum on Medical Devices held at Andhra Pradesh Medtech Zone, in Vishakhapatnam. Union Minister of Commerce and Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu, announced setting up of a National Medical Devices Promotion Council under the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) in the Ministry of Commerce & Industry.

Mahila Kisan Awards programme

  • The Mahila Kisan Award is an effort to bring the stories of struggle and success of women farmers in front of the country.
  • Prasar Bharati Chairman Dr A Surya Prakash launched Doordarshan Mahila Kisan Awards programme on DD Kisan Channel in New Delhi.
  • The women farmers have been selected by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, ICAR.

Highway nests at toll plazas

  • The National Highways Authority of India, NHAI, is constructing highway nests at toll plazas for a safe and comfortable journey for passengers.

Bilateral annual Haj 2019 agreement

  • India has requested Saudi Arabia to increase its annual Haj quota in 2019. Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi made this request to Saudi Arabia Haj and Umrah Minister. Both the leaders also signed the bilateral annual Haj 2019 agreement.

Auction of 683 private FM Radio channels

  • The government has approved the auction of 683 private FM Radio channels in 236 cities, some of them in remote areas.

Ministry of Railways has decided to give 25 % discount in haulage rate

  • Ministry of Railways has decided to give 25 % discount in haulage rate on transport of empty containers and empty flat wagons.

  • ECO Niwas Samhita 2018 – an Energy Conservation Building Code for Residential Buildings launched
