COVID19 India Live Updates: India entered day 3 of its 21-day nationwide lockdown imposed by PM Narendra Modi in a bid to contain the spread of coronavirus Covid-19, which has already breached the 700-mark in the country, with maximum number of cases being reported on Thursday. Central government on Thursday announced the first instalment of a fiscal relief package, worth Rs 170,000 crore, to protect the weaker sections of the society from the economic fallout of Covid-19 in the country. Announcing the measures, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the PM Garib Kalyan Yojana will benefit migrant workers, rural poor and women.Meanwhile, in the wake of significant surge in Coronavirus cases across the world, the government of India on Thursday announced that the ban on international flight operations to India has been extended to April 14.So far, COVID-19 has claimed 16 lives in India.

Liquor vends shut in Haryana

The Haryana government has ordered closure of all liquor vends across the state amid the nationwide lockdown in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

After the nationwide lockdown was announced from the midnight of March 24, the liquor vends were allowed to open in Haryana, till now.

A senior state government official said: ‘The vends were ordered to close from Thursday midnight and strict action would be taken against those not following orders.’

During the lockdown an exception had been made for essential services only. Given this and the fact that restaurants, beer bars and pubs had been closed, opening of liquor vends in Gurugram, Rohtak, Faridabad, and Sonepat had raised many an eyebrows.

A package is ready for the poor who need immediate help like migrant workers and urban and rural poor. No one will go hungry. The package is worth Rs 1.7 lakh crore.

There will be Rs 50 lakh insurance per health care worker as a medical insurance cover for them for three months. Hopefully, we would be able to contain the virus in this period.

Pradhan Mantri Gareeb Kalyan Ann Yojna(for next 3 months):80 cr poor ppl covered(2/3rd of India’s population), in addition to already allotted 5Kg of rice/wheat per person,an additional 5kg will be free. Additional 1kg pulse (acc to regional preference) will be given.

8.69 crore farmers to be immediately benefited through Direct cash transfers. Installment of Rs 2000 in the first week of April will be transferred.

Wage increase in MGNREGA- 5 crore families benefited, an increase of Rs 2000 per worker on average as additional income.
