Good News for Work From Home Employees – New SoPs to be Announced by the Central Government Soon!!! During the Covid pandemic the WFH system introduced to office workers which provides some flexibility along with the work. Employees who are used to this new work mode are now trying to resign when they are called back to the office. In this situation, the Central Government has announced the extension of WFH scheme to employees who are working in Special Economic Zones.
A few days after the announcement was made, the government is expected to issue a Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) this week to implement it. It is expected that issues like flexibility of WFH limit, removal of laptop, identity card etc will be clarified in this Standard Operating Procedure. As per the Ministry of Commerce, the work-from-home (WFH) work mode may be extended to 50 per cent for a maximum of one year in the Special Economic Zone.
For this, the Central Government has notified a new Rule 43A for WFH in the Special Economic Zone Rules, 2006. In this, the Ministry has directed to make provision for nationwide WFH policy in all Special Economic Zones (SEZs). And this new rule applies to a specific category of employees of SEZ unit like employees of IT/ITeS SEZ units. Also these WFH procedures may be extended to temporarily disabled employees, traveling and outsourced employees, ministry said.
