Good News for the Central Employees – Big Hike in Salary? There is a big announcement for the Central Government employees. That is, dearness allowance for central government employees and pensioners may be released soon. If we believed the media reports, this time the dearness allowance it is expected to be up to 6% for central government employees. This is because the AICPI figures for the month of April and May have increased.
It is certain that government employees will get 6% dearness allowance if the AICP Index increases further in the coming months. Meanwhile, it seems likely that the announcements regarding the new dearness allowance will be made in the cabinet meeting which held on August 3. Till now the central government employees and pensioners are getting dearness allowance at the rate of 34%. Now a notification of 4% dearness allowance can change the overall DA amount of employees to 40%. If, the Central Government employees’ basic salary Rs.18,000, they could get Rs.6840 hike by adding 38% dearness allowance.

Similarly, the total increase in annual DA for government employees with basic salary of Rs.56,900 will become Rs.27312. If the DA hike is announced, the house allowance of central government employees also likely to increase. So far the government employees are getting HRA on the basis of 27%, 18% and 9% respectively. Further, after DA announcement, it seems that there will be an increase in HRA as of 27% to 30%. By this announcement 47 lakh employees and 68 lakh pensioners will benefit from this.
