Banks Will be Closed for 18 days in August – Know About the Full Holiday Lists! In the month of August, there are around 18 days the banks are going to be closed. According to the bank holiday lists, the banks across the country will be closed for 18 days including weekends. It is to be noted that all public and private sector banks across the country will be closed on these holidays under the holiday calendar issued by the Reserve Bank of India.

Specifically, as per the Negotiable Instruments Act, banks are completely closed on every Sundays and second and fourth Saturdays of every week. Besides, public holidays including Independence Day and Muharram have been announced in the month of August. These dates are nationwide bank holidays. Other holidays are meant to be special holidays for each state. Only banks in specific states are closed on these stipulated days.

These holidays may affect the bank customers. Keeping this in mind, the Reserve Bank publishes a list of holidays every month so that people do not face any problems. Accordingly, banks will remain closed for 18 days including the weekend in August. So, the customers are advised to check the full list of August bank holidays here.
1 August 2022: Banks will be closed in Sikkim due to Durupaka Shi-ji holiday
7 August 2022 : First Sunday holiday
8 August 2022: Bank holiday in Jammu and Kashmir due to Muharram
9 August 2022: Banks in national capital New Delhi, Kanpur, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Hyderabad, Belapur, Bhopal, Chennai, Agartala, Jaipur, Raipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna and Ranchi will be closed due to Muharram holiday.
11 August 2022: Banks will remain closed in all states due to Rakshabandhan
12 August 2022: On account of Rakshabandhan, Kanpur and Lucknow shores will be closed.
13 August 2022 : Bank Holiday due to second Saturday
14 August 2022: Banks will be closed due to Sunday
15 August 2022: Banks will remain closed on Independence Day
16 August 2022: Bank holidays in Mumbai and Nagpur due to Parsi New Year.
18 August 2022: Banks will be closed across the country due to Janmashtami
19 August 2022: Banks will remain closed on Krishna Jayanti in Raipur, Chandigarh, Chennai, Jaipur, Jammu, Katna, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Ranchi, Shillong, Shimla, Srinagar and Gangtok.
20, August 2022: Bank holidays in Hyderabad on the occasion of Krishna Jayanti.
21 August 2022: Will be a weekly holiday due to Sunday
27 August 2022: Holiday as it is the fourth Saturday
28 August 2022: Banks will be closed due to Sunday
29 August 2022: A holiday will be observed in Guwahati on the occasion of Shrimant Sankardev Day.
31 August 2022: Banks will remain closed in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Karnataka due to Ganesh Chaturthi.
