October 12, 2018	World Egg Day	World Egg Day is celebrated around the world and helps to raise awareness of the benefits of eggs and their importance in human nutrition.
October 13, 2018	International Day for Disaster Reduction	The International Day for Disaster Reduction was started in 1989, after a call by the United Nations General Assembly for a day to promote a global culture of risk-awareness and disaster reduction. The 2018 theme continues as part of the “Sendai Seven” campaign, centred on the seven targets of the Sendai Framework. This year focuses on Target C of the Sendai Framework, reducing disaster economic losses in relation to global GDP by 2030.

October 17, 2018	International Day for the Eradication of Poverty	The United Nations’ (UN) International Day for the Eradication of Poverty is observed on October 17 each year since 1993. It promotes people’s awareness of the need to eradicate poverty and destitution worldwide, particularly in developing countries.

October 20, 2018	World Statistics Day	World Statistics Day on October 20 aims to show that good data and statistics are indispensable for informed decision-making by all actors in society. The United Nations event is celebrated every 5 years. The resolution was adopted by the UN General Assembly on June 3, 2015. This is the second World Statistics Day. Theme: Better Data, Better Lives

Theme “Your Story is Moving”.
October 30, 2018	Dr Homi Jehangir Bhabha birth anniversary	Dr Homi Jehangir Bhabha birth anniversary, the Father of India’s nuclear programme and a stalwart of scientific research in India, Dr Bhabha, laid the foundation of several iconic institutions.
October 31, 2018	World Cities Day	The first World Cities Day was celebrated in Shanghai, China on 31 October 2014. The day is expected to greatly promote the international community’s interest in global urbanization enhance cooperation among countries and cities in meeting opportunities and addressing challenges of urbanization, and contribute to sustainable urban development. 2018 Theme: Better City, Better Life
October 31, 2018	'Rashtriya Ekta Diwas' (National Unity Day)	Sardar Patel was instrumental in keeping India united. He was the first Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of India. He is credited for the integration of over 500 independent princely states in 1947-49 from the British colonial provinces by Independence Act 1947. He is known as the Iron Man of India or Bismarck of India and he is also remembered as the Patron Saint of India's civil servants for establishing modern all-India services.
29th October - 3rd November	Vigilance Awareness Week	The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) observes the Vigilance Awareness Week every year during the week in which the birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (31st October) falls. Theme for this year is ‘Eradicate Corruption-Build a New India’
