A government order has been issued to divide primary and middle schools across Tamil Nadu into two again and create new posts. Regarding this, the Tamil Nadu School Education Department said that the officials of primary and middle schools have been separated and new posts have been created for them.

According to the decree issued in this regard, District Education Officer is managing all types of schools in Tamil Nadu till now. This has reduced the time spent in primary and secondary schools. As a result, the District Education Officer could not carry out the work properly. They can’t able to monitor the teaching-learning process. Due to this, School Education Secretary Kakarla Usha requested the government to create 58 new district education officers.
It has been urged that all the District Education Officers now employed to monitor the functioning of Primary Schools should be appointed as District Education Officers (Primary) after completing 2 years of training. Based on the number of schools and the number of students in the district, 413 education blocks and 836 block education officer posts have been sanctioned.
