Informal Gathering of World Trade Organization (WTO) Ministers

  • Commerce and Industry Minister, Suresh Prabhu, attended an Informal Gathering of World Trade Organization (WTO) Ministers in Paris on 31 May 2018.
  • Twenty-Eight (28) member countries of the WTO and the Director General of the WTO attended the informal meeting.

BRICS Foreign Ministers meeting

  • The External Affairs Minister will participate in the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) Foreign Ministers Meeting on June 4, 2018 which is expected to lay the foundation for the annual summit of the grouping in Johannesburg next month and chair the IBSA (India, Brazil, South Africa) Foreign Ministers Meeting.

UN India Business Forum

  • The UN India Business Forum and the Women Entrepreneurial Platform of NITI Aayog formed a consortium to reduce gender disparities in start-up investments by providing mentorship and networking opportunities and accelerating financial and market linkages for women entrepreneurs.

Mauritius to host global Hindi Meet

  • The upcoming 11th World Hindi Conference in Mauritius is likely to produce directives to increase the popularity of Hindi globally.
  • The World Hindi Conference is a major event organized every three years by the External Affairs Ministry.

10th Meeting of Global Alliance to Eliminate Lymphatic Filariasis

  • Shri J P Nadda, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare inaugurated the 10th meeting of Global Alliance to Eliminate Lymphatic Filariasis (GAELF).
  • Releases Accelerated Plan for Elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis (LF) 2018 for India.

Intergovernmental ministerial meet on anti-doping begins in Colombo

  • The annual Asia and Oceania region intergovernmental ministerial meeting on anti-doping began in Colombo with representatives from 29 countries including India.
  • The 15th such annual gathering is also being attended by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) to discuss important anti-doping issues that will help in the fight for clean sport.

Thematic knowledge conference on “Plastic Pollution and Management”

  • A thematic knowledge conference on “Plastic Pollution and Management” was organized at “Vigyan Bhawan” to mark the beginning of 5-day long celebration of World Environment Day, 2018 (WED-2018).

Two-day Conference of Governors and Lt. Governors

  • The two-day Conference of Governors and Lt. Governors at Rashtrapati Bhavan with the inaugural address of the President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind.
  • This is the 49thsuch Conference held in Rashtrapati Bhavan and the second Conference presided over by President Kovind.

Third National Health Editors’ Conference on Yoga

  • Ministry of AYUSH developing a Yoga protocol for 40 Plus women in consultation with Indian Menopause Society held in New Delhi.
  • Rishikesh and Haridwar are known as the ‘Capital of Yoga’.

Smoking cessation campaign

  • At a World Health Organization event held recently, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India launched a national media campaign to encourage smoking cessation.

Arunachal Rising Campaign

  • Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu launched the Arunachal Rising Campaign with the objective to reach out to the people throughout the state targeting remote areas and make them aware of the government initiatives, policies and programmes.

Haryana to organize awareness campaign for farmers

  • Awareness programmes will be conducted at the village, block and district levels for farmers in Haryana from June 20 to July 15.
  • These programmes will generate awareness about the negative effects of stubble burning, its alternatives and various farmer welfare schemes.

Conference on implementation of National Pension Systems

  • A Conference on Implementation of National Pension System (NPS) by the Central Autonomous Bodies (CABs) was organized by Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) in the national capital.
