Specifically, 78% of Indians are reported to purchase fashion items like clothing and accessories, 63% purchase in-app/in-browser gift vouchers, and 70% purchase groceries through applications. When it comes to online shopping, reports say that 76% of Indians prefer to use UPI during checkouts. Also, UPI witnessed 6.57 billion transactions last August. Its value is Rs.10.72 trillion.

Now, as Indians show interest in purchasing goods through UPI, there are predictions that Indians are ready to embrace the growing metaverse space. Specifically, 57% of Indians are reported to want to access Metaverse for banking services in the next 12 months. Also, virtual apparel and fashion (56%), event tickets for concerts and sports events (52%), and games and gaming tokens (51%) are the products that Indians are interested in buying on Metaverse.
