4% Dearness Allowance Hike for Central Government Employees & Pensioners – Cabinet approval!! The Union Cabinet has approved an increase in the amount of Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief for central government employees and pensioners to 4%. With this hike, DA for employees has increased to 38% from basic pay and pension. The hike will be effective from July 1, 2022.

The additional fiscal impact to the Central Government due to this increase in the Dearness Allowance is estimated to be Rs.6,591.36 crore per annum and Rs.4,394.24 crore in FY 2022-23. Also, the overall impact on the central government exchequer is Rs.12,852.56 crore and in the current financial year Rs.8,568.36 crores have been explained by the Union Cabinet.

Before that, the central government had increased the Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief amount for government employees and pensioners to 34 percent in March. Now, this amount has been increased by 4 percent to 38. Meanwhile, the Cabinet has approved an allocation of Rs.10,000 crore for the development of Delhi, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad railway stations.
