CBSE releases an app to locate the Exam Centre

The Central Board of Secondary Education has released an app giving information about the examination center for the convenience of the students. With the help of this app, students will easily search their examination center.

CBSE has also launched an Online Exam Center Management System-OECMS for the Principals of the school.By this system, they will get real time information such as availability of invigilators, absentee student, Divyanga student, unfair means and various other details in a single click.

Union HRD Minister launches UKIERI-UGC Programme

The Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ launched‘ Higher Education Leadership Development Programme for Administrator’– a joint initiative of UGC and British Council under the auspices of UK India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI).

This Programme aims to deliver a leadership development programme for middle and senior level administrative functionaries in Indian Universities.

New Zealand Deputy PM visited India for four-day visit

Winston Peters, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of New Zealand are on a four-day visit to India.

Deputy PM of New Zealand will deliver speech on Indo-Pacific at the Indian Council of World Affairs followed by a meeting with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar at Hyderabad House.

Sri Lanka withdraws from UNHRC resolution on war crimes

The Government of Sri Lanka formally notified the United Nations that it is withdrawing from a United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) resolution for investigating alleged war crimes. The case was dealing with a decade-old clash with Tamil separatists.

Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena informed UNHRC that Sri Lanka has decided to withdraw from the co-sponsorship of UNHRC’s resolution 40/1 on promoting accountability, reconciliation and human rights.

Mastercard CEO Ajay Banga to step down

Mastercard Chief Executive Officer Ajay Banga will step down at the start of the next year and will be replaced by Chief Product Officer Michael Miebach.

Banga, who took over as CEO in April 2010, will become executive chairman, Miebach will take over as the company’s president on March 1.

Indian-Origin Minister Suella Braverman Sworn in as UK’s Attorney General

Indian-origin Suella Braverman, appointed the UK’s new Attorney General in British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s reshuffled Cabinet earlier this month, was formally sworn in for the post at a ceremony at the Royal Courts of Justice in London.

The 39-year-old minister, a barrister and Cambridge University law graduate who specialised in public law and judicial review, said her priority will be to restore confidence in the justice system.

Microsoft & SBI join hands to train differently-abled

Microsoft announced a partnership with State Bank of India to train differently-abled people to find jobs in the banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) sector. Over 500 differently-abled youths will be upskilled in the first year of the collaboration.

As a part of this partnership, SBI Foundation and Microsoft will develop an artificial intelligence-powered market so that the BFSI industry can connect more easily with differently-abled people for employment opportunities.

1st ‘National Conference on Coastal Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience

First ‘National Conference on Coastal Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience (CDRR&R) 2020 was organized by the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), in New Delhi on 25 February 2020.

National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has launched an industry campaign named “UPI Chalega” to promote UPI as Easy, Safe, and Instant mode of payment.

The “UPI Chalega” campaign is aimed to guide users towards the right usage of UPI and help create a habitual change, use of UPI in their daily life.

Indradhanush – V 2020: Indo-UK bilateral air exercise begins in Hindan, Uttar Pradesh

A 5-day long 5th edition of  Indo-UK (United Kingdom) bilateral air exercise “Indradhanush-V” 2020 between Indian Air Force (IAF) and British Royal Air Forces (RAF) has commenced at Air Force Station Hindan in Uttar Pradesh (UP).

The 4th edition of the Indradhanush was held in the UK from July 21,-30 ,2015.

Maria Sharapova, five-time Grand Slam winner, announces retirement\

Five-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova has announced her retirement from tennis. The Russian won her first Grand Slam at Wimbledon in 2004 aged 17 and completed the career slam, all four major titles, by winning the French Open in 2012.

She became world number one in 2005 and won the US Open the next year. she won the 2004 WTA Tour Championships, the 2008 Fed Cup and a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics.

Achanta Sharath Kamal, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran Win Silver At Hungarian Open

Indian men’s doubles pair of Achanta Sharath Kamal and Gnanasekaran Sathiyan settled for a silver medal at the ITTF World Tour Hungarian Open after losing the summit clash to German combination of Benedikt Duda and Patrick Franziska at Budapest, Hungary.

Sharath won a bronze with Manika Batra in mixed doubles.

Katherine Johnson, legendary NASA mathematician, dies at 101

Katherine Johnson was an American mathematician, who passed away on February 24, 2020. She was 101. Katherine was famous NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) mathematician who led the American space agency to a new height.

Her calculations related to space travel played an important role in transporting humans to space.
