US Prez Donald Trump to arrive in Ahmedabad on two-day visit to India

US President Donald Trump will arrive in Ahmedabad today on a two-day visit to India. He will be accompanied by his wife Melania Trump. He will visit Sabarmati Ashram and take part in a roadshow with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The two leaders will jointly address over one lakh people at the ‘Namaste Trump’ event at the Motera cricket stadium. A cultural extravaganza will be organised at the stadium during the Namaste Trump event. After the event in Ahmedabad, Mr Trump and his entourage will fly to Agra to visit Taj Mahal.

Harsimrat Kaur Badal inaugurates National Organic Food Festival

Harsimrat Kaur Badal (Food Processing Industries Minister) & Smriti Irani (Women & Child Development Minister) jointly inaugurated National Organic Food Festival in New Delhi.

The three-day festival aims at strengthening the organic market and encouraging women entrepreneurs in the manufacturing of organic produce.

“Unleashing Indi’s Organic Market Potential” is the theme of the festival.

Indian Army is Set to Get New Headquarters – the Thal Sena Bhawan

Defense Minister Shri Rajnath Singh laid the foundation stone of the Army Headquarters new building “Thal Sena Bhawan” in Delhi Cantonment. Thal Sena Bhawan, the multi-storeyed complex adopting Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA-5 rating) norms, designed like a “rising sun” and spread over nearly 39 acres.

The Army Headquarters is currently housed in the iconic South Block at Raisina Hill, Delhi.

US surpasses China to become India’s top trading partner

The United States has surpassed China to become India’s top trading partner. According to the Commerce Ministry data, the bilateral trade between the US and India stood at nearly 88 billion dollars in 2018-19 fiscal. During the period, India’s trade with China was at 87.1 billion dollars.

Similarly, during April-December 2019-20, the bilateral trade between the US and India stood at 68 billion dollars against a nearly 65 billion dollars trade with China in the same period

Language movement martyrs’ day “Shaheed Dibash” observed in Bangladesh

“Shaheed Dibash” which is also known as ‘Amar Ekushey’ was observed on 21st of February in Bangladesh to commemorate and to pay tribute to the martyrs of language movement who lost their lives during Pakistani police firing on 21st of February 1952 in Dhaka.

Chitra Bharati Film Festival celebrated at Gujarat University in Ahmedabad

The three day festival, known as the Chitra Bharati Film Festival (CBFF) Celebrated at Gujarat University in Ahmedabad. This is the third edition of the festival- the first was held in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, in 2016, and the second at Delhi’s Siri Fort Auditorium in 2018.

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Bollywood filmmaker Subhash Ghai inaugurated the CBFF. Around 140 films falling under four categories screened at the festival. The categories are short film, documentary, animation and campus film.

Gold reserves found by GSI in Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh

The Geological Survey of India (GSI) has found gold reserves in Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh. These reserves are estimated to be around 3000 tonnes which is almost five times of India’s present gold reserves. The newly found reserves are valued at Rs 12 lakh crore.

Manoj Kumar felicitated by London’s World Book of Records for contribution to Indian cinema

Veteran actor Manoj Kumar has been felicitated by the World Book of Records, London with the WBR Golden Era of Bollywood honour for being a legendary actor and for his contribution to Indian cinema.

The certificate of honour was presented to Manoj Kumar recently by Santosh Shukla, Supreme Court Advocate (President World Book of Records), Usman Khan (Vice President, World Book of Records, India) and Professor Rajeev Sharma

Railways launches online Chatbot ASKDISHA

Ministry of Railways upgraded services of Artificial Intelligence (AI) based ASKDISHA chatbot to converse with Railway customers in the Hindi language. It aims to resolve queries of railway passengers over the internet pertaining to various services offered.

Indian Railways introduced the services of AI-based ASKDISHA chatbot in October 2018.

India’s 13-year old Grandmaster D Gukesh wins 34th Cannes Open

In Chess, India’s 13-year old Grandmaster D Gukesh emerged champion in the 34th Cannes Open in France. Gukesh defeated Harutyun Bargseghyan of the host nation in the final round to end with 7.5 points. Gukesh, who last year became the world’s second youngest Grandmaster ever, beat the Frenchman in 50 moves to emerge clear winner.

The Tamil Nadu player had last week won his first open tournament, bagging top honors in the Hillerod 110th Anniversary Open event in Denmark.

Russia will host new edition of AIBA World Cup 2020

Russia will be the 1st country to host the new format of AIBA (Association Internationale de Boxe Amateur or International Boxing Association) Team World Cup 2020 which was approved by AIBA Executive committee members, at the meeting held at Budapest, Hungary, Europe.

The Boxing tournament will be coinciding with the 75th anniversary of the victory in World War II under the motto “Boxing for Peace”.

Ross Taylor becomes first player to play 100 matches in all three formats

Veteran New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor has become the first player in the world to play 100 matches in all there formats of cricket.

The right-handed batsman Ross Taylor is already his country’s leading run-scorer in Test, and ODI with 7174 and 8570 runs respectively.

He also scored 1909 runs in T20 match.
