PM Modi to inaugurate two-day International Judicial Conference 2020 in New Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a two-day International Judicial Conference 2020 organised by Supreme Court in New Delhi today. Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and Chief Justice Sharad Bobde will also be present on the occasion. Chief Justice Robert Reed of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom will deliver a keynote address at the conference. Chief Justice of Australia will also be present.

The conference will witness the participation of numerous other international legal luminaries from across the world. The theme of the International Judicial Conference 2020 is “Judiciary and the changing world”.

Department of Telecommunications launches ‘5G Hackathon’

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has launched ‘5G Hackathon’ in association with government, academia and industry stakeholders. Aimed at shortlisting India’s focused cutting edge ideas that can be converted into workable 5G products and solutions, the Hackathon that began yesterday will be spread across three phases.

The event will culminate in a grand felicitation ceremony at India Mobile Congress on the 16th of October this year. Winners of the various phases will share a total prize pool of 2.5 crore rupees.

India to switch to world’s cleanest diesel and petrol from April 1

From 1st of April 2020, India will be switching to the world’s cleanest petrol and diesel as the nation is heading towards transitional shift from Bharat Stage-IV grade to Bharat Stage-VI grade. The BS-VI grade has only 10ppm of sulphur and its emission standards are as good as that of CNG.

Fourth Anniversary of Shyama Prasad Mukherji Rurban Mission celebrated

The Fourth Anniversary of Shyama Mukherji Rurban Mission is being celebrated all over India on February 21, 2020. It was launched on February 21, 2016 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The mission aims at stimulating local economic development and creates well planned Rural and Urban Regions.

Northern Frontier Railway Construction Built India’s Tallest Pier Bridge On February 2020 In Manipur

Northern Frontier Railway construction has constructed India’s tallest railway pier bridge. It is built across the Makru river in the Tamenglong district of Manipur.

Structure of the Bridge Total amount spent was Rs283.5 crore.It is 100m tall similar to a 33 storey building. Width 555m is a part of 111km Jiribam-Tupul-Imphal new broad-gauge line.

Pakistan to remain on the FATF Grey List

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has decided to keep Pakistan on the FATF Grey List till June 2020. The decision was taken during the group’s meeting and plenary in Paris. The anti-money laundering watchdog decided to keep Pakistan on its Grey List for failure to curb transfer of funds to terror groups Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and others.

Haryana govt to set up Atal Kisan Majdoor canteens

Haryana government will open Atal Kisan – Majdoor canteens in all mandi and sugar mills across the state.

It will provide affordable & cheap meals to farmers and labourers at a concessional rate of 10 rupees per plate. 25 such canteens will be established this year.

Haryana government will also provide free and concessional travel facility to 41 different categories of residents in the ordinary buses of Haryana Roadways.

Tripura

Bharat-Bangla Tourism festival begun in Agartala, Tripura

In Tripura, a two-day long first-ever Bharat-Bangla Paryatan Utsav-Tourism festival began with spectacular cultural events this evening at Ujjayanta Palace compound in Agartala.

The State Tourism Department has organized the festival in memories of the contribution of Tripura in 1971 Bangladesh liberation war as well as giving a fillip to the Tripura tourism sector.

Retired IAS officers Amarjeet Sinha, Bhaskar Khulbe appointed as Advisers to PM

 

Retired IAS officers Amarjeet Sinha and Bhaskar Khulbe have been appointed as Advisers to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Department of Personnel Training, in its order said, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointments in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in the rank and scale of Secretary.

Both the Indian Administrative Service officers are from the 1983 batch. Mr Sinha was from the Bihar Cadre and Mr Khulbe from the West Bengal Cadre.

RBI appointed Sunil Gurbaxani as Dhanlaxmi Bank MD & CEO

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) appointed Sunil Gurbaxani as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Dhanlaxmi Bank for a period of 3 years. Sunil was the successor of T.Latha.

Sunil Gurbaxani served as the Executive Vice President of Axis Bank.

Indian Railways Customer grievance portal “RailMadad” gets National e-Governance Awards

RaidMadad, the grievance redressal portal of Indian Railways, has been awarded Silver award under Category-II of National e-Governance Awards– “Excellence in providing Citizen-centric delivery” at the 23rd Conference on e-Governance which was held at Mumbai on 7 & 8th february 2020.

RailMadad is the single portal for grievance, inquiry and assistance for all railway customers- passenger, freight, parcel. Customers can also give their suggestions on RailMadad.

Gujarat Signed MoU with ITDC to promote Tourism

India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) Ltd signed an MoU Tourism Corporation of Gujarat on 20 February 2020. The move is an attempt to enhance the tourism growth in India.

The MoU was signed by G Kamala Vardhana Rao, C&MD, ITDC, Jenu Devan, Commissioner of Tourism and Managing Director, Tourism Corporation of Gujarat in an event held at Dhordo, Kutch.

Indian Railways launched HRMS Mobile app for its employees

In order to bring transparency in the administrative functioning of the Indian Railways, Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav, Chairman of Railway Board has launched HRMS Mobile App, for all the employees of Indian Railways.

The HRMS Employee Mobile App has been designed and developed by Centre for Railway Information System (CRIS)

The app allows employees to view their historical data since the date of joining in Railways including details related to the Increments, Promotions, Awards, Transfers, Postings, Leave, Training, and composition of Family as per records, Nominations for retirement benefits and also brings transparency to administration.

India won 11 medals at the Brazil Para Badminton International Championships

India finished Brazil Para Badminton International Championships with 11 medals in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Among the total are 11 medals, 4 gold, 5 silver, and 2 bronze medals.

Indian shuttler Pramod Bhagat claimed two gold medals in men’s singles SL3 and men’s doubles SL3-SL4 categories. With this win, he was qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

Suhas Lalinakere Yathiraj won gold in men’s singles.

Pragyan Ojha announces retirement from all forms of cricket

Indian left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha announced retirement from international and first-class cricket with immediate effect.

He played his last match for India in 2013 during Sachin Tendulkar’s farewell Test against the West Indies in Mumbai.

Pragyan Ojha played 24 Tests, 18 ODIs and 6 T20s in which he scalped 113,21 and 10 wickets respectively.
