10000 Govt Teachers will train on Digital Learning: UNESCO MGIEP Collaborates with EdIndia Foundation!!! – The UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (UNESCO MGIEP) collaborates with EdIndia Foundation, the strategic CSR arm of Sterlite Power to train 10000 teachers across India in digital tools and integrate socio-emotional context while teaching.

This training will help teachers to enhance choice and engagement, the course on SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) will give hand on experience for teachers on learning activities to enhance students’ performance. The goal of this training is to create a group of certified master trainers from the ranks of state teachers. The training intervention will take the shape of a UNESCO MGIEP-developed self-paced interactive certificate programme.

“UNESCO MGIEP and EdIndia will collaborate to organize a series of online seminars for Master Trainers,” said Ayan Chatterjee, Head Of EdIndia. They planned to educate government teachers, both in-service and pre-service, across Rajasthan, Tripura, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra, with whom EdIndia is collaborating.”

While speaking about this collaboration Dr Anantha Duraiappah, Director, UNESCO MGIEP said, “Digital learning is here to stay and it really needs to go beyond the regular PDFs and PowerPoint presentations towards a more pedagogical, immersive, and engaging experience for the young”. He also said that Skills in digital teacher training are critical for learning in the metaverse.
